4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Step back in time and explore the city of Dubai through the eyes of those who lived here from the 1960s to today. In this workshop, we will dive into the rich architectural history of Dubai, from its iconic skyscrapers of yesterday to cherished local landmarks of today. We’ll look at vintage postcards showcasing Dubai’s transformation over the decades and encourage children to reflect on their own city’s history.

Participants should bring with them a photograph of themselves or a family member in front of a significant place in Dubai—whether it’s a famous building, a local park, or even a sculpture. For participants that are new to the city please bring a picture of something important your local neighborhood. Using these personal photos, children will transfer the images onto postcards they will create during the workshop and share their creations, reflecting on the buildings and spaces that make their Dubai special.

This workshop is for children ages 5-12 years old and admission is free of charge and a first come first serve basis.

This workshop is inspired by the exhibition Lest We Forget: Structures of Memory in the UAE curated by Dr. Michelle Bambling for the National Pavilion UAE at La Biennale Architettura 2014. This workshop is organized in partnership with Lest We Forget.
