A writer and researcher specialising in the politics of culture and identity and the Iraqi diaspora.
Mariam holds a B.A. degree in Mass Communication and Print Journalism from The American University of Sharjah, and an M.A in Global Media and Postnational Communication, from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. She recently completed an 8-month fellowship with the Open University in the UK. She continues to publish her research in Academic journals and publications regionally and internationally.
She has worked in publishing, media consulting and cultural and artistic production in the UAE and the UK. She is currently coordinating the Educational programming and Media for the National Pavilion for the UAE – la Biennale di Venezia, and continues to work as a researcher in her spare time.
